Title: Determination of object-subsequential area precipitation
with radar creation of precipitation-runoff model
ICI Interactive Communication Inc., Budapest; Körös
Valley District Water Authority, Gyula
Co-ordinator: Dr. Ferenc Pintér, ICI Interactive Communication Inc.,
Budapest
The 2-5th, all together 12 month work period of the total
20 month duration project was scheduled for 2001. For this reason the bigger
part of the total job was focused on the working out of the project details,
the maintaining of the conditions of the research and development activity.
As a result, all necessary conditions of that activity is fulfilled before deadline.
All of the scheduled jobs of the members of the consort were fulfilled, without
problems. Between the members of the consort the co-operation is problem-free,
the integrated work-groups functions properly. The unified project managing
and documentation is in operation.
The members of the consort fulfilled all of the obligations of the financial
and expert reports for deadline. The own resources were supplied, the frames
of subsidy were used precisely in cost and deadline.
All of the conditions for the next work period are created, the activities are
started, related problems are not arise. The intensified surface precipitation
data collection period were perform successfully.
All of the conditions of the problem free work have been supplied.
The database and the data archiving systems were developed and installed in
steps for satellite and radar images, surface observations, precipitation maps,
objects, surface models.
In the period of 2000. 12. 01. and 2001. 11. 29. an intensive four seasons
data collection period took place. 6of selected observation stations hourly
precipitation measurement were performed, first of all the calibration of radar
(satellite) evaluated precipitation amount data. The satellite receiving system
worked in continuous regime in the infrared, visible and water vapour range.
The radar were operation in every situation, where precipitation fall was expected.
The complete set of collected data in stored in the archive, among others 80.000
satellite and radar images.
Also are stored all of the surface observed precipitation data.
The terrain elevation model is evaluated.
The computer based interactive and automated system and algorithms were evaluated
in steps for the objects identification, tracking, clustering and regressive
calibration.
Based on the main classes and the precipitation measurements area precipitation
amounts are calculated. The continuous precipitation evaluation and the daily
measurement based calibration as begun, on the archived database. Based on that,
the testing and the developing of the calibration method is continuous, with
good results.
The investigation and data storage is based on high resolution maps with 1km.
The water capacity data are also stored in the database.
Big amount of data were collected for the physical and logical characterisation
of the water system of the river Körös. The runoff is calculated
by the model of the water system. The calibration method is based on time serials
of water capacity data. The covered area is enlarged step by step. In the intensive
period several interesting situation were observed and recorded.
The scheme of the automatic processing and warning system is ready.
The results of the project have been published in various ways, as: presentations,
publications, Internet. Several concrete interest have raised in the topic.
